This is your chance to explore the beautiful open space of Eagle Peak Ranch, a 454-acre conservation area owned by the San Diego River Park Foundation! For River Kids Discovery Days, we will be taking a special group on a guided hike of this special space. Take in the breathtaking views of the San Diego River Gorge, explore the expansive open space, and practice citizen science!
Is your kid a smart-phone whiz? Put those skills to good use with app-based citizen science! Hikers have the option of participating in a BioBlitz, which is a biological survey that helps scientists to better understand local ecosystems! A BioBlitz uses the smartphone app iNaturalist to identify plants and animals we see in nature. While the hike is open to all ages, the BioBlitz activity is most appropriate for kids aged 10 and up who are comfortable with smartphone app technology.
